After a ruling that entitled customer taking out credit cards and loans with payment protection (PPI) insurance to reclaim this PPI back in compensation, the financial ombudsman service is taking hundreds of claims a day. The main causes for this increase in claims are due to solicitor's aggressively pursuing compensation on behalf of their clients, and their no win-no fee policies and the large numbers of customers miss sold PPI; customers are making these claims in huge numbers. So far these claims have led to over £200 million in compensation payments. However it was noted that only 5 to 10 percent of all complaints ever make it to the ombudsman, say the service.
