The music, film and video game retailer HMV recently reported an annual loss of £38.6 million due to declining sales and restructuring costs. The main reason attributed to this decline in sales is the rise of online music and film download websites. Music and film lovers are now able to download songs and films at the click of a button, without requiring a stop at their local HMV or retailer. Only time will tell if the online music and film industry will make HMV, the CD and the DVD obsolete in favour of a fully online entertainment industry.
