15. Under CAA supervision, a travel company must ensure the security of a customer’s money.

The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) supervises and administers the civil aviation in the United Kingdom. The CAA deals with the critical aspects of aircraft airworthiness, for example design, operation and maintenance. It is a statutory corporation established in 1972 following the Civil Aviation Act of 1971, which is primarily concerned with satisfying individual customers by with an economic return on their investment and a high degree of air travel safety. For example, a plane travelling holiday-goer is assured that their money is safe in the event of a company failure. The CAA is financed entirely by the charges it mandates on all those it regulates, rather than receiving UK government funding. As of 2016, the CAA is involved with 19,000 registered aircraft, pilots, air traffic controllers, airlines and more in the UK.
