The following instructions provide a useful guide in setting up a musical performance in small spaces: • Place 2 microphones in the centre of the stage • Place 1 speaker at the front, facing towards the performer, for them to hear themselves • Place 2 speakers at the sides, facing towards the audience, for them to hear the music • Plug cables into all speakers, instruments and microphones • Keep the cables along the stage edge where they are safe - away from the performer to avoid potential hazards • Plug cables into the mixing desk, be sure to note the numbers – for example, microphone = 1 • Set volume levels, high or low, to what is appropriate for the performance space This set-up will aptly prepare you for many potential situations as it covers various musical styles that require this layout.
