Glamping is a combination of the words ‘glamour’ and ‘camping.’ It describes the activity of camping with luxurious amenities. Typically, this is to fulfil a desire for escapism often ascribed with camping, but with the benefits of comfortable living. Glamping has seen a rise in popularity during the 21st century, especially from 2005 onwards when the word ‘glamping’ came into fashion. The emergence of this popularity is in large part due to its affordability. Today, luxury camping is not exclusively available to the rich. Many accommodations that promote glamping aim to be affordable for most price ranges. Although glamping may promote comfort over the minimalism of camping, the focus remains on outdoor recreation.
