Crowdsourcing differs from ordinary outsourcing by outsourcing to an undefined public, rather than a specific company or formal employment. Participants are either paid financially, with prizes or in recognition. Because of the use of amateurs or volunteers, crowdsourcing is an inexpensive and large numbers of people can be gathered.
